Masjid Negara - The National Mosque

Masjid Negara is the National Mosque of Malaysia located in Kuala Lumpur. The most striking features of the Mosque are the 73 meter high minaret and the 18 point blue green star roof.

The mosque was built in 1965 on top of what used to be a church, the Venning Road Brethren Gospel Hall, which had been there since 1922 when Malaysia was part of the British Empire.

When I went to visit the mosque was closed to non muslims.

Across from the mosque was an old train station that I believe isn't being used anymore.

A young couple sells art by the mosque.

A few more picture of Dataran Merdeka

Here's a few more pictures of Dataran Merdeka, also known as Merdeka Square. I walked by it agian on my third day in KL while on my way to the National Mosque and the Lake Gardens. I'll cover those in another post.

More Petronas Towers and KLCC Park

Here's some daytime pictures of the Petronas Towers and KLCC Park. The park was lovely and children all used the public pool to cool down and have fun.

In the background is Traders Hotel. It's got a great view of the towers; I wrote about it in my last entry.
